Garlic Butter Steak and Potatoes Skillet

Ingredients:

  • Petite steaks, between 2 to 4 pieces, depending on serving size
  • Salt and pepper, applied generously
  • A sprinkling of garlic powder for that extra punch
  • 1 tablespoon of premium extra virgin olive oil
  • Baby potatoes, about 2 to 4 pounds, expertly diced
  • Salted butter, preferably artisanal, between 2 to 6 tablespoons, easy to mash. Keep 1 tablespoon per steak and two extras for the potatoes
  • 2 teaspoons of finely minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon of a dried Italian herb blend, for that authentic Mediterranean flavor
  • Fresh thyme and parsley, 1 teaspoon each, finely chopped

Instructions:

Start by preheating your oven to a moderate 350°F to prepare it for baking later on.

Position a sizable, oven-friendly skillet on the stove, cranking up the heat to medium-high.

In the meantime, season the petite steaks with salt, pepper, and a bit of garlic powder for an extra zing.

Pour the olive oil into the heated skillet, letting it spread across the surface. Carefully add the seasoned steaks, searing each side for a captivating 3-5 minutes, or until it reaches your preferred level of doneness.

Once done, extract the steaks from the skillet and let them rest in a safe place.

Now, bring in the diced baby potatoes, introducing them to the same skillet. For a robust flavor, season them with a blend of salt, pepper, garlic powder, dried Italian herbs, thyme, and parsley.

Let the potatoes bask in the heat for about 8-10 minutes, giving them a gentle stir now and then, until they attain a deliciously golden-brown color and yield to the tender press of a fork.

Invite the steaks back into the skillet, placing them elegantly atop the bed of seasoned potatoes.

Garnish each steak with a dollop of butter, one tablespoon per piece.

Then, treat the potatoes to an extra dose of creaminess with two tablespoons of butter.

Distribute the minced garlic over the potatoes, stirring gently to ensure an even spread.

Carefully place the fully loaded skillet into the preheated oven, letting it bake for a sweet 15-20 minutes. The goal is to have the butter melt and seep into the steak and potatoes, and to ensure the potatoes are perfectly cooked.
