Description
This dish is a quick and easy way to add some flavor to your chicken. Garlic butter chicken can be made in just a few simple steps, and it’s perfect for a weeknight meal.
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (can be frozen)
1/2 cup all purpose flour
Salt and pepper to taste
Garlic Butter Sauce:
3 tablespoons butter (do not use margarine or smart balance!!)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/4 cup white wine (can be substituted with chicken broth)
1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
seasoning:
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 tablespoon parsley flakes
optional:
1 tablespoon olive oil, melted
Instructions
- Set your oven to 350 degrees. Cut chicken breasts into bite sizes, season with salt and pepper.
- Combine flour, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, parsley flakes in a plastic bag. Add chicken to bag and shake until all pieces are coated. MELT 3 tablespoons butter over medium heat in a large pan or skillet (I use the same one I will cook my chicken in).
- Cook chicken, in batches if needed, until browned on all sides. (You will probably need to add more butter between batches)
- Add wine and garlic. Allow to bubble for 1-2 minutes, then remove chicken from pan. Cover chicken to keep warm while you make the sauce.
- Melt the remaining tablespoon of butter in the skillet over medium heat. Add garlic and cook until fragrant (about 1 minute, stirring constantly). Slowly add flour and whisk until smooth (about 1 minute), this will create a roux.
- Slowly add milk and whisk until no lumps remain (about 2 minutes), continue cooking and stirring over medium heat until mixture thickens (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in parmesan cheese.
- Add chicken back to the pan, spoon sauce over top. Place in preheated oven and cook for 15-20 minutes or until chicken is cooked through (no longer pink). Garnish with parsley flakes if desired.
