Ingredients
You’ll need:
- 1/2 cup butter, brought to room temperature
- 1 cup fine granulated sugar
- 2 free-range eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 1/2 cups diced tart green apple, peeled
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, as per your preference
Crisp Streusel Topping:
- 5 TBSP unsalted butter, chilled
- 1/3 cup flour
- 2 TBSP granulated sugar
- 2 TBSP dark brown sugar
- 2 tsp ground Saigon cinnamon
Sweet Vanilla Glaze:
- 1 TBSP butter, melted
- 1/2 cup confectioner’s sugar
- 1 TBSP milk
- 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees C) and prepare a loaf pan with a lining of parchment paper or a light coating of non-stick spray.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the room-temperature butter and sugar. Whip until creamy. Blend in the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smoothly incorporated. Introduce the flour, salt, and baking powder into the mixture, ensuring no lumps remain. Gently fold in the diced apple and chopped nuts, then spoon the batter into your prepared pan.
In a separate bowl, gather all the streusel topping ingredients. Blend them using a fork or pastry cutter until the mixture becomes crumbly. Generously sprinkle this topping over the batter in the loaf pan.
Bake for about 55-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf emerges clean. (Tip: The bread will reach an internal temperature of 200 degrees F when fully baked.) Allow to cool before removing from the pan.
Prepare the vanilla glaze by mixing the melted butter, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract together. Once the loaf is cool, lavishly drizzle the glaze over the top. Slice to serve and enjoy this comforting treat!
