Classic Italian Stromboli

Ingredients:

1 can of ready-to-bake pizza dough from Pillsbury
8 slices of premium deli ham
10 slices of Genoa salami
12 slices of sandwich-style pepperoni
8 slices of either provolone or mozzarella cheese (shredded variation can be used too)
2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
2 cloves of garlic, finely minced
2 teaspoons of fresh parsley, finely chopped
3 tablespoons of freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions:

Begin by preheating the oven as per the instructions given on the pizza dough packaging.

Take a microwave-safe bowl and place the butter in it. Heat the butter in the microwave until it melts. Add the minced garlic, chopped parsley, and Parmesan cheese to the melted butter, stirring to combine. Set this aromatic blend aside.

Take a baking sheet and line it with parchment paper for easy clean-up and to prevent sticking.

Next, take the ready-to-bake pizza dough and roll it out on the parchment paper, making sure to stretch it to nearly the dimensions of the baking sheet.

Start building the layers of the Stromboli with the assorted deli meats. Begin with a layer of ham, followed by a layer of salami, and finally a layer of pepperoni.

Top off the layers of meat with the cheese of your choice, ensuring it covers the meat evenly.

Carefully roll up the Stromboli lengthwise, making sure the seam is tightly sealed. Pinch and fold any excess dough underneath the Stromboli to secure the ends well.

Use a serrated knife to make small, shallow incisions along the top of the Stromboli. This will allow the steam to escape while baking, ensuring a crisp exterior.

Once the Stromboli has been assembled, brush it generously with the previously prepared garlic-butter mixture. This will add a rich, garlicky flavor and a golden hue to the crust.

Finally, bake the Stromboli according to the instructions provided for the pizza dough. Despite being used for a different dish, the baking time remains the same as if you were making a regular pizza. However, remember to bypass any steps for par-baking as this isn’t necessary for this recipe.

This recipe omits the traditional red sauce inside the Stromboli, but feel free to add it if you prefer. Otherwise, serve it on the side for a delightful dipping experience.

And there you have it, a delicious and satisfying Classic Italian Stromboli, hot from the oven and ready to impress!
